Geography:
The type of science that is used with the location of living and non-living things on earth and the way they confilict one another, is geography.
Ancient Greece Words
The Parthenon was a temple in Athens where the statue of Athena, the Ancient Greek Goddess of justice, wisdom and learning was worshipped. The whole statue was made of pure gold.
"Next Sunday, I'm going to the Parthenon to worship the Goddess Athena."
A strigil is a metal, hook-like tool that was used to wipe sweat off of an athlete's body after they participated in an event. The also use the strigil to scrape oil off of them.
"I wiped off my sweat with a strigil after participating in the Olympics."
The agora is a market place located in every city state. It is a place where Greeks could sell and trade goods. The things they would usually sell are animals, crops, pottery and tools. People would usually move to a city state with a market place because that is where they get their goods and earn money for their families. People won't move to city states that don't have a market place because then they won't get any money or get to trade any goods. The agora was also a social center where the people of a city state could hang out. The agora was very important to a city state if it had any hope in becoming developed.
"I am going to the agora to sell and trade my pottery."
Zeus was the supreme god, ruler of Olympus, and he also ruled the heavens. He was the sixth child of Cronus, the ruler of the Titans, and Rhea. He is very mighty, glorious, awesome and very wise. If he has to punish somebody for commiting a sin, he would strike the person with lightning bolts. Zeus became the seven wonders of the world and he was also known by many titles: Lord of the Sky, The Cloud-Gatherer, The Rain God, and Zeus, The Thunderer. He was the guardian of politicial order and peace. He was different from the other gods, because he didn't participate in the arguments of the gods. He was the most celebrated statue of ancient times, because of his greatness, charm, and worth.
" Zeus is the most powerful gods of Ancient Greece!"
A phalanx is the battle formations the Ancient Greeks fought in. Infantry men would line up with spears and swords, then they would charge at each other.
"Hurry up soldiers and get into your phalanxs!"
Rome Words:
Plebian:
A plebian was a very poor person that had to trust the patricians to tell them what their rights were.
" I am going to tell a plebian that he has to give me some land since he doesn't know what his rights are."
Patrician:
A patrician was a very rich person that could tell the plebians what their rights were. most of them could afford slaves, pretty much the opposite of a plebian.
" I am going to have a feast today since I am a patrician and I can afford it."
Collusium:
The collusium was where the gladiators faught to the . Most gladiators were slaves or criminals who were forced to fight, but some brave men or women would want to fight, this lead to them dying in front of millions, or becoming very popular and weathly.
"My father works at the jail where one of the criminals will be sent to fight at the collusium"
Middle Ages Words:
Feudalism:
Feudalism means a system of wealth. The people with the most land are the richest. First there are the king's,then the lords, then servants, last but not least the serfs.
"The king is the richest because of feudalism."
Famous Dictators:
Josef Stalin g ed control of the Soviot Union 1924. In the process of taking over he killed V.I. Lenin who he took control from. Josef Stalin, after he took control of the soviot union changed his last name to stalin which means "Man of steal". In 1922 was named General Secretary of the Central Committee. By the end of the 1920s Josef Stalin had lost power from his rival Leon Trotsky.
