Location

Most people say that the Kremlin is in the "heart of Russia". Over to the south is the Moskva River. The Kremlin also overlooks the St. Basil's Cathedral which many people mistake for the actual Kremlin.  Two other sites it looks over are the Alexander Garden and the Red Square. The triangle of the Kremlin wall closes an area of 275,000 square meters which is in Moscow, Russia.

History

The first section of The Kremlin was built in 1147 AD. When the soviet government fled to Moscow in 1918, Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov(Vladimir Lenin) selected Moscow’s Senate as his residence. When he was settled he replaced the golden eagles on the tower to shinning Kremlin Stars. Also Lenin's Mausoleum was turned into the Kremlin Wall Necropolis. Many people refer to The Kremlin as the White house of Russia. The Kremlin is believed to be inhabited or lived in since the second millenium B.C.. In 1475 Grand Ivan III ordered for the Kremlin to be reconstructed. During Grand Ivan III's rule three cathedrals were built: The Kremlin, The Deposition Church, and the Palace of Facets.

Kremlin Buildings

There are many buildings in or near the Kremlin like Cathedrals, Museums, and historical monuments. These monuments are very special to the people living in Russia and for those who don't, it make special memories that will stay with them forever.

The State Armory

The state Armory is the oldest museum in Russia. It has a lot of artifacts, royal treasures and armor dating back to the 14th century. At first it was just a small stone chamber. The Armory now has 2 floors for guest to see. The lower floor has costumes, crowns, thrones and carrages from Russia's rulers from midieval times. The upper floor has a collection of Imperial treasures, armor and weapons. It also has a large collection of European gold and silver. With the gold and silver, there is a also a gold toilette set. This was given to Tsar Alexei, one of Russia's rulers, from the French.

Lenin's Mausoleum

The Lenin's Mausoleum is a museum in the Kremlin. The museum is dedicated to Vladimir Lenin, a former Russian ruler. Mausoleum means a fancy tomb. In this musuem is the final resting place of Vladimir Lenin. The tomb has been embalmed since 1924 when Lenin died. The tomb is a crystal sarcophagus. The Lenin's Mausoleum is very attractive to tourists and communists. The mausoleum is made of stone since it was first created in 1930. Many people considered Lenin to be a great revolutionis and one of the best thinkers.

The Walls and Towers of the Kremlin

The walls of The Kremlin are 2,235 in length. Around the Kremlin are 18 different towers. In front of the walls is the Lenin's Mausoleum. Behind the Kremlin wall is the graves of many important Soviets. For example the grave of Josef Stalin is behind the Kremlin Wall. The Tsarskaya tower or Tsar tower is a small tower. The Tsar tower was finished in 1680. The Tsar tower replaced a older tower, that many people believed Ivan the Terrible threw dogs to their death and watched peoples execution from this tower. In the Tsar tower many Tsars watched important events that were in the Red Square.

The Cathederals of The Kremlin

There are three cathederals within the Kremlin. The Cathedral of Assumption, the St. Michael Archangel, and the Cathedral of Annuciation. The Kremlins oldest church is the The Cathedral of Assumption. Along with being the oldest church it is also what many believe to be the most important church. Many people consider this Cathedral the protector of Russian Orthodox. This cathedral replaced the first stone church in Russia. This cathedral has been moved from the city of Vladimir to the area of The Kremlin.

Another cathedral in The Kremlin is the cathedral of St. Michael Archangel. St. Michael Archangel is the youngest of these three cathedrals. This cathedral was where many people considered the leaders of Muscovy to be buried at St. Michael Archangel. St. Michaels was built between the years 1505 to 1508. Instead of reflecting Russia architect, St. Michaels Archangel reflects more of a Italian Reniassance Architectual idea. This Church also is the burial site of Prince Ivan Kalita. He moved the orthodox church from Vladimir to Moscow.

The other cathedral in The Kremlin is the Cathedral of Annuciation. This cathedral is a private church that the Grand Dukes and Tsars of Russia went to. In this cathedral the ruling family was married, newborns were baptized and confessions were made. This church was also built under rule of Ivan the third. In 1547 the cathedral was continously damaged by riots and fires in Moscow. It was then restored between 1562 and 1564. It was repainted frequently because of aging and fire. Many people refer to this cathedral as Golden topped. On the porch of this cathedral Ivan the terrible witnessed a comet. He thought that this meant that he was going to die soon and he might have been correct, because he died just days later.

Hey, I love your page. I think having the bubble share first will really catch peoples attention, and make them read on. Because you draw them in with that however, I dont think your pictures need to be sooooo big. When they are their current size, It overwhelms the text and makes it look like you have less content. Maybe if you made them smaller your text would look more defiant.

I really enjoyed reading your wiki page. I thought it was realy good content wise and you put in some really cool picturs and bubble shares up on your page. But some of your paragraphs were either really long or really short, but some of them were perfect. I really hope you get a good grade on this assinment. keep up the good work.

I would give this page an avarage score of around a high 80. The bad news for this page is that the pictures were way to large and overwhelming making it seem that the info is tiny. Also some of the content was confusing, but altogether it stayed on focus and you were able to learn alot. Another fact is that on some of your heading you berely had an info. Some good things about this page is that it had not spelling errors or grammer erros. Altogether I quite liked this page. GOOD WORK!!

I think your page was pretty good. At times I was a little bored but at times I wasn't. I really like how all your links are to different places. You also had a lot of links to wiki pages and that's good. I think some of the page sounded like it was copied and pasted and changed a little bit. But over all out of 100 i give it a 85%. Great work!!!

Hey guys. I personally thought that you did some very nice work. I thuoght that the content was excellent and helped me learn something. The most important part of what i saw however was the fact that the information was focused and related to russia. Not only that but you had a good amount of links. My favorite part of the links however was the fact some of them were internal. The only problem i had was the fact that you didn,t include some links were they would have been interesting. Overall, I would give you a 90. Very nice job. :)

Hey, nice page you guys! You guys have a good amount of detale but I think you guys could have focused more on the content and less on the pictures. The pictures were a little overwhelming for me. They just seemed too big and it seemed liked you guys had a lot of them too. Your page looks very good....but the table of contents kinda threw me off......what is with it going off the page. It looks kinda silly. If you can't fix that then you might as well just take if off the page. Keep rock'n the wiki!D

Hey Guys, I really enjoyed this wiki page. I read it from the top to the bottom and didn't get bored at all. You taught me some interesting facts about the Kremlin that I didn't know.

I also liked the pictures and bubble shares that you included. I thought the different sizes made your page interesting to look at and would probably reccommend that to other groups too!

Best of all, it looks like you guys divided the work up pretty evenly. I didn't sense that any one person did too much and any one person did too little. That's cool.

I would give this page a 4 because you had really good content and you said facts about Russia and the Kremlin.I noticed there were many Spelling/Grammar errors. If you didn't repeat iformation like on St. Michael the Archangel, it would make it better. I do like gow you had so many pictures to show us what the Kremlin looks like. Lastly, tou didn't have a discription for each picture. Good Job1
