Russian Homes

Tsar Peter the greats Summer Home:

Tsar Peter The great spent 14 summers in a baroque style house in Saint Petersburg. The house was built by Domineco Trezzini in 1710 however was not finshed untill 1714,and by then Tsar Peter the Great had already spent 2 Summers in it. One feature the house had and still has (the house is now used as a museum) a central heating system wich uses solid feul burning boilers, porcelain ductwork and ornamental painting. The house contained only 14 rooms, of which Catherine, The Tsars wife, preffered the secound story of.

Alexander Palace:

This Yellow and white palace was constructed in Tsarkoe Selo, meaning "Tzars Village" in Finnish. The palace was commisioned by Catherine the Great for her grandson, later the Tzar of Russia, Alexander I of Russia. The palace was planned by Giacomo Quarenghi, and intended to be built in St. Petersberg, but was instead built in Tzarkoe Selo.

Catherine Palace:

Catherine Palace was built in 1717 when Catherine I of Russia became engaged to a German architect named Johann-Freidrich Braunstein, who built it for her. It was commisioned to be expanded in 1743 by Catherine's daughter Empress Anna, who then changed her mind and left it normal size in 1756. The palace was then completely knocked down and rebuilt in a more modern Rococo style.In 4 years when the palace was rebuilt it measured 325 meters long. Over 100 kilograms of gold were used on the houses stucco facades and roof statues. There is also a formal garde in the front of the palace.

Monolithic Domes:

Monolithic Domes are a common site in Russia pobably portreying the great temples in St. Petersburg.  Monolithic Domes are mad to withstand hurricanes, they are very safe homes with dome shaped tops.  The first example of Monolithic Homes were igloos.  The reason they built monolithic homes were because they were strong and had great insulation.  The first modern monolithic dome ever built was opened in 1963 in Utah, it was an ice skating rink called Ream's Turtle, this rink stood untill 2006 when it was demolished.  Monolithic Domes are actualy very energy efficent, for a number of reasons.

I noticed that your page has great formating. You could have added a space between the table of contents and the "Russian Homes" title, though. However, I think you did an awsome job on putting pictures. I think you could have added more information on the Alexander palace. The rest of the homes were great- they each had a picture, and equal amounts of information.

Firstly, I’d have to say that I'm really impressed with your page. It had many strengths such as the detailed, but kid friendly, language. Also it had many pictures to give me an even better idea of what you were decribing. On the other hand, your page lacked links, it only had two out of 362 words, even I'd have to admit that's a bit absurd. Also, I'm curious to hear about normal homes, not just famous ones. What do Russian homes look like today? And, remember to check spelling and grammar you had a few mistakes.

I now relize that homes and different places can help with peoples lives like that. I have always thought that a house was a house no matter were you are. I guess I was wrong, knowing that you said it could represent a person's social stance and show how rich and govermental a person was. I think that you could have added a little information on how the heating and cooling in russia is controlled be one place. I belive that would be interesting on how people have adapted to their enviorment to be able to live with such a problem. I also am a little confused because all you did was talked about spacific homes and not about why and how people have adapted to such weird and unberable conditions. Although, you did state a very interesting thing about "The Dome Home" and how the regular person will ethier be in a flat or one of these. I belive that yall did a high decent grade knowing I came out understanding alot more abou russian homes than I did before I came across with this page.

Good job guys! I thought your page was very interesting and I especially liked the pictures. I think you guys should have put in some information about normal homes in Russia that people live in now. Over all I think it was pretty good and I think you deserve somewhere between a 85 and 90.

I really liked your page it was very good. I think you had great formatting, and interesting information. Also I noticed that you put a picture after each house paragraph and i thought that was very cool. I noticed that you started off with a good amount of links then you just stopped, and you shouldnt have stopped, because you need more links. An issue I saw was in each paragraph you didnt have too much info. I really liked your page it was very informative, and interesting, good page!! Alexia C.

Hey Guys, First, some positives: I loved the approach you took to your page. To tackle some interesting houses in Russia was a neat direction that I hadn't considered. I was worried, though, because there were way too many spelling errors for the final copy of a project. I was also concerned after looking at your history because it doesn't look like you guys put too much into your page. There weren't many revisions at all!

Hey nice page you guys! I think you could have added more info. and links to your page. There is barley any links. I thought that the format was very good though. Maybe you guys should have focused more on the content and less on the pictures. In one section there was barley any info. you can add a little more info to that section. Keep up the good work!

I notice that your page is well-organize and has different pictures of Russian Homes. I wonder what they will look like. But I notice that there are not many information and not too many links. I would grade this a 79%. Maybe put more information and some bubble shares in. Don't forget to add more links to this page.
